On Friday the 16th December 2016, APOW group met at 5:30 at the Quakers, Croydon to go for a weekend residential trip to Dorset. During our journey, we played different games which included a game of human bingo! The group found this really interesting because it helped us to know each other more. We got to our destination at 11pm. It was so quiet, calm and fascinating. After resting, we agreed with some rules and regulation for that weekend. We started with an exciting exercise, yoga, on Saturday. We had breakfast and we went to meet the Hilfield Community. They showed us around the place and we played games with them. They were amazing people as they were a hospitable community, preparing lunch, dinner and snacks for us. We had lots of similarities. For example, APOW welcomes people and is open to everyone who wants to join and so is the Hilfield Community. In addition to that, they are a community who see themselves as friends and families. The aim for our trip was to learn about peace and to become peacemakers. We did workshops about peace, we discussed the meaning of peace and the effects of conflict. During the workshop, we made a drama relating to peace and conflict. We were divided into four groups and each one came up with a brilliant story line! Drama was one of the most activities that the group liked the most! On Sunday, we also talked about the people who were pacifists during conflict. We left Dorset at 4pm. It was a fantastic trip as we explored more places, connected with the environment and we met amazing people. We also had lots of fun. Everyone recommended that it would be better if we stayed for longer, but we were all satisfied, thankful and appreciated the experience that we got from that trip!
